Recycling has arrived at St. Thomas'! You may have noticed the new yellow and blue recycling bins in the kitchen and an extra trash bin in the church parking lot. They're there because St. Thomas now has weekly pick-up of our used glass, plastic, aluminum, and newspapers. So, check out the new recycling bins, know where they are, and use them!
We also are continuing our agreement with PSI Services III, a job skills training organization for developmentally-challenged people, to recycle our office paper for free. Receptacles for office paper are in the church office.
The Building and Grounds Committee is in the process of assessing St. Thomas' energy efficiency in order to try to reduce our consumption and aid our environment. Part of our effort has been to work with staff from the Energy Office in DC's Department of Energy and to contact other Episcopal parishes to learn how we can team with them as we commit to "going green."
We'll keep you posted as we implement energy efficiencies and other "green" improvements at both the Church and the Rectory.
Contact Barbara Hays, Chair of Building and Grounds, if you're interested in working with us on our internal and external efforts
