A users' guide for Episcopalians
On Easter we celebrate the feast of Christ’s resurrection, his rising to new life after his death on the cross. Easter is considered the principal festival of the church year. It is symbolically important that Easter occurs in the springtime; just as nature is coming to new life, so is Christ and Christ’s church. The reason that the date of Easter changes from year to year is that in the western Christian churches Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon; Easter always falls between March 22 and April 25.
