Following the 2006 Episcopal General Convention St. Thomas’ Parish (Dupont Circle) in Washington, DC sponsored a program titled "A Conversation with Bishop Gene Robinson: Reflections on the 2006 General Convention." Bishop Robinson’s powerful remarks led the parish to produce a professional quality DVD of his presentation. It is with pleasure that St. Thomas’ offers this program to the church at large with our gratitude for the leadership, vision and inspiration that Bishop Robinson’s brings to the church’s dialogue on the current tensions within the Anglican Communion. More than 900 complimentary copies of the DVD were sent to church leaders throughout the Episcopal Church and international Anglican Community so that Bishop Robinson’s message could be heard by a broader audience.
In his presentation Bishop Robinson talks about his personal experiences at the General Convention, including a moving description of his participation on Larry King Live. It outlines the broad context of the issues under discussion at the international level and his perspectives on the leadership of gay and lesbian persons in the church. Bringing his thoughtful understanding of the Gospel and how it relates to the challenges of the church at this time in history, his delightful sense of humor in the face of personal challenges, the members of St. Thomas' Parish were heartened to hear his optimism and pastoral reflections.
While his presentation addressed many issues specific to the General Convention Bishop Robinson’s overall perspective is still relevant to the ongoing dialogue in the church-at-large and issues that will be at the forefront of the upcoming Lambeth Conference. Many congregations and other groups have used the program as a starting point for educational and discussion programs.
Copies of the DVD are available for sale at $10.00 per copy, which includes standard mail shipping costs. Total running time of the program is approximately 120 minutes. Click the "Buy Now" button to purchase your copy of the DVD today.
