Several St. Thomas' members attended the 112th Convention of the Washington Diocese at the National Cathedral Convention on Friday and Saturday, January 26th and 27th. Representing the parish was the Rector, as a clerical delegate, Louie Stewart, as a lay delegate, Jean Holman, as an alternate lay delegate. Joining the delegation for the two-day meeting was Kurt Jacobs, Barbara, Hays, and John Dwyer, Seminarian. The convention sets policy for the diocese, adopts a diocesan budget and discusses future directions for the church. Other St. Thomas’ members involved in the convention were the Reverend Kay Johnson who assisted the Urban Ministries booth and John Andriote who manned the Southern African outreach booth. Dustin Cole gave an excellent presentation to the whole convention on his work with Sacred Grounds. Bishop Chane praised Dustin’s work with young adults. Dustin’s slide show was well received by those in attendance. Also working at the convention was Beth O’Callaghan who assisted as a teller.
