Elaborate masks, colorful beads and Dixieland jazz transported partygoers to the heart of Bourbon Street at Samaritan Ministry’s Mardi Gras Celebration in February. Held in the headquarters of the American Institute of Architects, the event also honored past board presidents, St. Thomas' Parishioner, Melissa Barrett and Gary Franklin for their contributions to Samaritan Ministry.
A highlight of the evening was an auction of luxury vacation homes proffered by guest auctioneers The Right Reverend Jane Holmes Dixon and David Booth Beers. Vacations to Vermont, Williamsburg, Paris and other destination locations were snapped up by generous bidders. A flat screen TV with Nintendo Wii console and other coveted prizes were awarded throughout the evening in the Samaritan Ministry raffle. More than $40,000 was raised to help support Samaritan Ministry through the generosity of all involved. Thank you to everyone who attended this festive and fun evening and who supported this event by purchasing raffle tickets and auction items.
