The Pastoral Care Ministry at St. Thomas'provides support to members of the parish and loved ones who are sick, bereaved, in need of counseling, or who have any other need. The chair coordinates clergy and pastoral care visits, as well as delivery by Eucharistic ministers of Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend regular services.
The rector and members of the Pastoral Care Ministry share regular home visits to elderly or sick members of the parish as well as coordinate the delivery of meals, flowers, worship bulletins, and sermon tapes or transcripts by parishioners to families at times of death, illness or other crisis.
Members of the committee also serve as healing ministers during the healing liturgy, coordinate the prayer list for the Order of Service, and pray daily for those on the list.
Our clergy are available to meet with parishioners concerning pastoral issues and welcome requests to have Communion brought by one of the clergy or Eucharistic visitors to those unable to attend regular services. Individual appointments to meet with a member of the clergy may be made by contacting the parish office at (202) 332-0607.
