The Pastoral Care Committee, has been earnestly inviting all members of the parish to consider a ‘call’ to serve as a member of the Sunday healing team and/or a Eucharistic visitor. A training will be held January 13th, following the 11:00 service. Please consider the following questions as you wonder if this ministry could be a place for YOU to share yourselves with the mission and ministry of the parish:
Do you often wonder how a member of the parish is doing, when you have not seen them for a while? Or if you see their name on our prayer list? And does this wondering, their name, seem to come to you during your own prayer time, seemingly ‘out of the blue’?
- Do you take the announcement page home with you and pray for those listed on the prayer request list, even though you may not know who someone is?
- Does your spirit exude a sense of gratitude for the spiritual leadership of the parish, both lay and ordained, and you find that you include them in your prayers and/or find yourself concerned for their well-being?
- Are you someone who has come through a challenging time in your own life—and find that this challenge has brought you closer to God and more deeply in love with all of creation?
- Are you comfortable sitting quietly with someone who is in pain? Or needs help with seemingly small tasks in life, like taking out the trash or caring for a pet?
- Are you someone who prays…simply, someone who talks to God?
For more information, please contact the Committee chairs, Clinton Anderson (202-744-1252) or Jim Mills (202-554-5948).
