St. Thomas' Parish - Stewardship

Through St. Thomas’ Parish’s stewardship program we have developed a number of resources to assist members in living out this journey of developing their holy habits of tithing, daily personal prayer and study, Sabbath time and weekly corporate workshop. This includes educational programs throughout the year, preaching and worship that focuses on stewardship and opportunities to examine your own approaches to personal and corporate stewardship.

Stewardship 2010: Sharing Your Talents

It's that time of the year again. It's written about in our bulletins and spoken of during announcements. It even warranted an entire sermon of devotion. Yep, you guessed it, our call to Stewardship. Time to whip out the checkbooks and bite the bullet to keep our church alive. Stewardship; however, is not a once a year event. Along with your fiscal contribution, St. Thomas' also needs donations of your time and talents to our Committees and events that make our Parish life thrive!

Double your Pledge with Employer Matching Funds

Does your employer have a matching funds program? Did you know that your pledge to St. Thomas' qualifies for matching funds at many companies? Many employers will match charitable donations dollar for dollar others match at an even higher rate. So the value of your annual pledge to St. Thomas' can easily be doubled or even tripled.

To take advantage of this program, just ask for a matching funds form from your employer, human resources office or matching funds department. Then complete it and return it to St. Thomas'.

In-House Financial Infrastructure Encourages ALL OF US to use Pledge Envelopes

Whether your financial gifts to the parish are week-by-week cash donations to the plate or if you have submitted a pledge card and ‘promised’ the parish an amount for our 2008 year of life together, to support the mission and ministry of the parish, our Treasurer, Finance team and our Accountant ALL STRONGLY ENCOURAGE EACH OF US TO USE OUR PLEDGE ENVELOPES (if you’re not donating on-line). Our weekly team of ‘counters’ spend several hours, Sunday by Sunday in this largely invisible, respectfully quiet ministry, which is essential to the ongoing life of our community. Their work would be so much efficient, as the work of the rest of this spiritually-centered team, if they had the luxury of recording amounts with numbered envelopes. The envelopes can be found on a table in the Guild Room.

Thank you, Really!

Stewardship Committee Report

The following article was written by the Reverend Canon J. Hugh Magers and was published in the July 2007 issue of Networking (the newsletter of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship). Canon Magers starts out with a rather blunt assessment of the relationship between parishioners and the amount of their giving. But, as you'll see, there's a purpose to his approach. By the end of the article, you'll see the profound connections he draws among giving, witnessing and evangelism.
