			<title>Souper Bowl of Caring - Feb. 5</title>
			<link>http://www.stthomasdc.org/outreach/souper-bowl-of-caring-feb.-5.html</link>
			<description>

Souper Bowl Sunday - Feb 5
Football   Food . . . and Madonna!

Join us on Sun, Feb. 5, after Taiz&amp;eacute; (~6PM), for the heavenliest Super Bowl party around.

Of course there's football on the big screen in the Guild Room. Also, in coordination with Souper Bowl of Caring, we are asking people to bring money and/or canned goods/non-perishable food items which will then be donated to Martha's Table. Bring food and drinks to share. Bring money or food to donate.

And most importantly bring yourself + partner or spouse or friend/other to enjoy the game and help fight hunger. (Btw, Madonna's doing the halftime show.)

			<title>THC Move-In Success</title>
			<link>http://www.stthomasdc.org/outreach/thc-move-in-success.html</link>
			<description> Thanks to everyone who helped with the Transitional Housing Corporation move-in and apartment setup this past Saturday.

Furnishings included one of the blue sofas formerly in the Guild Room; it needed to find a new home as the furnishings are changing in preparation for the Montessori School that will use our space during the week starting later this year.

Gregory Zitterkob wanted to thank especially everyone for your help with getting out the word about this project, collecting the donations in the nursery, and for providing us with a great sofa. Here is a photo. Hopefully the sofa will serve this family as well as it has served our parish family in the guild room all these years.

			<title>Service Project Opportunity This Saturday</title>
			<link>http://www.stthomasdc.org/outreach/service-project-opportunity-this-saturday.html</link>
			<description>
On Saturday, October 1st, the St. Thomas community will be furnishing an apartment for a District family through Transitional Housing Corporation's (THC) Adopt-an-Apartment program. Please join other volunteers from St. Thomas' Parish to lend your time and hands to
help out with the move on the morning of Saturday, October 1st. Contact
Gregory Zitterkob for more information or to volunteer.

You also can help make this apartment a comfortable home for this family by making a financial contribution to help defray the costs of purchasing new mattress sets. (Checks can be made out to the parish and placed in the plate, just make sure to write Outreach THC in the memo line.)

THC is a faith-based, District-based, non-profit (http://www.thcdc.org/) that provides housing and comprehensive support services to homeless and at-risk families so that they can make transformational changes in their lives.

			<description>
Take a step toward volunteering in a meaningful volunteer position with Samaritan Ministry. We need front office coordinators, computer mentors, resume writers, and casework associates to help our participants, many who are homeless, take steps toward a better life. The Next Step Program works because of the many volunteers who give their time to this ministry. Call or email Dianne Lewis at 202-722-2280 x 319 or dlewis@samaritanministry.org (mailto:dlewis@samaritanministry.org) to find out more.

			<title>A Thank You From Billy Fettweis of Servathon 2008</title>
			<link>http://www.stthomasdc.org/outreach/a-thank-you-from-billy-fettweis-of-servathon-2008.html</link>
			<description>
Thank you so much for participating in Servathon on Saturday, May 3rd! Together we made a huge impact on the improvement of the DC Public Schools. More than 3,200 people invested over 12,000 hours in a variety of service activities - painting classrooms, revitalizing playgrounds, landscaping, providing trainings on job skills and technology for teachers and students, and collecting books to help build schools libraries. Beyond the numbers, though, make no mistake about the impact you had on Saturday.
