When others experience renewal in us, when they hear us saying of Jesus who gathers us here each week: "he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak," whether we meant to or not we will be doing good evangelism. For evangelism is nothing more than sharing what attracts you to St. Thomas' Parish not only with one another but also our neighbors, close by and far away. If progressive Christians don't speak up about our love of God and the need for God in our lives, then someone else will do it for us; we are complicit in constructing the strength of fundamentalist religions and Christo-facism each time we remain silent about our faith. Sharing who we are here, and what God is doing in our lives, begins to help deconstruct the voices of intolerance and exclusion that currently shape many of our nation's political, religious, economic, and environmental values. Evangelism happens in the decisions others see us making, not just the words they hear us saying. Share your faith journey!

We live out the miracle of Jesus making us whole each time we S.H.A.R.E. Christ with others - each time we are good Stewards, living Hospitality and Authenticity, engaging in Radical Renewal, and the Evangelism of not being able to keep quiet about it. Stewardship, Hospitality, Authenticity, Renewal, Evangelism - S.H.A.R.E.- is my own way of remembering at the start of this year how closely linked we are today with Isaiah, and Jesus, and the author of James. For in those days we will be able to say of Christ, our Shepherd, with voices full of thanksgiving: "He has done everything well."
