When I think about what it takes to make St. Thomas' thrive, I don't first think of money.
After all, we’re not a building or a park, we are a group of people. It’s our people, our parishioners, that make us thrive. The opposite is true: that is, St. Thomas’ makes its parishioners thrive.
I give to St. Thomas’ because of what we do for each other and for the outside community.
St. Thomas’ has allowed me and many others to rediscover our spiritual roots. Many of us left the Church for a while, for one reason or another. And if it weren’t for a welcoming and inclusive parish, many of us would still be without a Church. There are so many opportunities for us to grow as Christians and to understand what it means to be part of a Christian community.
St. Thomas’ brings us together in fellowship. It is important that we worship and grow together. Worshiping and learning together enhances our understanding of what the Church is all about.
St. Thomas’ makes an incredible contribution to the outside community, both to Dupont Circle, and to the greater community as well. I think of how much outreach we do, and realize how proud I am to be a part of all this.
Wow, St. Thomas’ does so much. I can’t think of a single reason NOT to give.
