A young crucifer carries the cross during an outdoor service.

At the heart of congregational life is public worship. We gather to hear God’s Word and celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Eucharist) on Sundays at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 5 PM, and on Wednesdays at Noon.

Many persons are needed to make our worship services effective and meaningful for our members and visitors. For any of these tasks there is orientation and training available. Your interest in serving will be matched with our help in preparing you for these tasks.

To learn more about any of the following or to volunteer for any of these roles, please contact Jack Reiffer, Worship Committee Chair.

Greeters

  • Stand outside or in the various entrance areas before the services to welcome worshipers and answer questions about the service and facilities
  • After the service, during the fellowship time, help welcome newcomers and introduce them to others in the congregation

Ushers

  • Welcome worshippers and distribute the printed order of service • Help late arrivers find a convenient seat
  • Collect the offering and prepare the presentation to the front • Manage the flow of persons to the altar at the Eucharist

Crucifers

  • Carry the processional cross at the beginning and end of the service
  • Assist the celebrant at the altar

Readers

  • Read one of the lessons or the Prayers of the People

Note: The next rounds of training for readers – both those who currently serve and any who are curious about this role – will be at noon on Sunday, October 5 (led by Bob Sheavly) and on Sunday, October 12 (led by Brian Crane).
